Creating an Application by Importing Data
If you want to create an online database application from your .XLS files,
you can paste data from these files and directly create your application with
Form and Data. Comma seperated values or Tab seperated values stored in other
file formats can also be used to create your application with data. The created
application will be directly displayed in Live mode.
To create an application by importing data,
- Select the Import .XLS option.
- Copy the data from your .xls file or from other file formats that store
comma seperated values or Tab seperated values. A sample data in the .xls
file is shown below:

- Specify the application name and paste the data copied from .xls
file, as shown below.

- You can create your application to be public, in which
case the data can be accessed by public visitors and indexed by search engines
(or) to be private. By default, the applications created in ZohoCreator
are private and is accessible only by the owner of the application to view,
add, modify and delete the records.
- Click Create Now to create the application with the specified name.
- The form will be created with the name of the application.
- The field names and the field types in the form, will be displayed based
on the data you have pasted, as shown below:
- The column headings will be displayed as the default Field Label
Names of the form. If you want to change a field name, type
a new name in the Label Name box.
- The default Field Type is displayed based on the type of data
pasted for each column heading. If a field type is not correct, select
the appropriate field type from the drop-down list. Refer the topic, Field
Types for more information on each field type.
- Click Finish to create the application with the form data.

5. The application Project Details is created with the form "Project
Details Form" and the "Project Details View" is listed in the
Live mode, as shown below. To edit your application, select the Edit this
application button. This will take you to the edit mode. Refer the topic,
Editing Your Application, for more information.
